James “Landis” Prince

Landis founded Shadow Vet Drone Ops to bring aviation discipline, field-tested planning and professional unmanned aircraft capabilities to land management, inspection and mission-support operations.

He served 12 years in the U.S. Army, including two deployments to Iraq. His military experience included work as a UH-60 Black Hawk avionics and electronics mechanic and service as military police. That background established a detailed approach to aircraft maintenance, mission planning, logistics and operational risk management.

After military service, Landis worked in law enforcement, including service as a Rankin County Deputy Sheriff with Special Response Team certification and heavy-vehicle responsibilities, followed by patrol experience with Capitol Police.

His technical background also includes avionics, electronics, vehicle diagnostics and field-service experience, including work with Tesla Mobile Service. Those disciplines now support Shadow Vet’s agricultural application, thermal inspection, mapping, recovery and commercial drone operations.

At Shadow Vet Drone Ops, Landis directs mission assessment, aircraft selection, flight planning, safety, compliance, field logistics and client coordination. Each project is approached as an operational mission with a defined objective, documented scope and deliverables appropriate to the work being performed.

Experience and Operational Background

  • 12 years of U.S. Army service: UH-60 Black Hawk avionics and electronics maintenance, military police duties and two Iraq deployments.
  • Law-enforcement experience: Rankin County Deputy Sheriff, Special Response Team certification, heavy-vehicle operations and Capitol Police patrol experience.
  • Technical background: Avionics, electronics, troubleshooting, vehicle diagnostics, field maintenance and Tesla Mobile Service experience.
  • Drone operations: Agricultural application, thermal imaging, inspections, mapping, wildlife support and difficult-terrain missions.
  • Operational leadership: Mission planning, risk assessment, compliance, equipment logistics and project-specific documentation.
